We have heard many stories of how animals have saved the lives of humans, just by being themselves all the time and offering their companionship along with dedication, loyalty, and love they have within them. This cat named Bob was one of them. Bob inspired the book series and film of A Street Cat Named Bob. Sadly, he passed away at the age of 14 years.
The owner of Bob, James Bowen, found him in 2007 when battling from drug addiction. Bob was found abandoned and injured. However, James decided to take him into his care. Taking care of Bob was the only reason for Bowen to get out of bed in the morning.
Ever since that day, wherever James went Bob followed with a cute little scarf around his neck. Especially when busking/selling The Big Issue in London, Bob will be seen with James.
As time passed, Bowen recovered and decided to write a book series of their relationship and journey since 2007. ‘A Street Cat Named Bob: And How He Saved My Life’ was published in 2012 and became a smashing hit which eventually was created as a movie starring Bob himself. Five other books have been published in over 40 different languages. A second film starring the feline himself ‘The Gift of Bob’ is to be released later this year.
In a Facebook post written by James, he states that Bob saved his life at the most unexpected time in life. Further, he stated that Bob gave a direction in life and purpose to live. Bob has left an empty spot in many people’s hearts and it will never be the same, and he will be missed dearly.
