“X Æ A-12” – The name that is being talked about all over the internet. Well, those of you who still have no idea what this is about, this is the name that musician Grimes and Tesla CEO Elon Musk gave to their new born son. Cool? Strange? Weird? It’s a mix of all but who are we to judge!
Grimes’ and Elon’s first child was born last Monday. While the first child’s birth would be the NEWS that usually everyone would be excited about, in this case, it’s different. What made news in relation to this duo’s child is the name they used to call the baby, which I’m sure you’d agree to be a little different from the ‘usual’.
“X Æ A-12”
When Grimes first announced the baby’s name on Twitter, people were surprised because no one could even pronounce the name, let alone understand what it is. It didn’t stop there. As much as people were surprised about this ‘unusual’ name, they took it to another level by meme-ing about it.
However, later, in another Tweet, Grimes explained step by step how to understand her first baby’s name.
•X, the unknown variable ⚔️
•Æ, my elven spelling of Ai (love &/or Artificial intelligence)
•A-12 = precursor to SR-17 (our favorite aircraft). No weapons, no defenses, just speed. Great in battle, but non-violent ?
(A=Archangel, my favorite song)
(⚔️? metal rat)

Although one thing about the name – its meaning – was clarified, people were still struggling to find out how it’s pronounced. People came up with various pronunciations while the one that got most popular was the pronunciation “Kyle”.
This pronunciation originated from the Reddit user Gausd who commented his theory about the name’s pronunciation.
He’s name is Kyle Musk!!! Kyle the son of Musk!!!! pic.twitter.com/7sMG0YeDBC

However, defying all the theories, Grimes revealed on a reply to a user the pronunciation too.
However interesting this sounds, whether this will be the legal name of the baby is a question since California law doesn’t allow symbols or numbers in a baby name.
Anyway, here are some of the memes that were created when the baby’s name was first announced. Have fun!
