Family Puts Up A Sign In Front Of Their House, Films Silly Walks By Passersby

It definitely isn’t easy being quarantined for many people. Therefore, it’s important to be mindful about yourself and the others around you. Not everyone gets to spend a “fancy stay at home” kinda thing. There are so many in the world that find this period of lockdown a real struggle.

You might be having a lavish lifestyle spending your time making dolgana coffee while some others will be going to bed without food. Meanwhile, there are people with anxiety and depression. Can you imagine how hard it would be to keep up with all these hassles? That’s pretty much a lot going during the quarantine.

Anyways, with all the difficulties, we need to have some hope. And in order to have hopes, we need to be positive amidst this struggle. After all, it’s about the survival of the fittest. So we need to stay strong as much as we can.

One thing that we have understood during quarantine is that many are showcasing their talents, and people try to be creative with time spent inside home. A family from Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan, decided to come up with an innovative way to entertain not only themselves but also the neighbours. Doesn’t it sound great?

Liz Koto’s family recreated a sketch called “The Ministry of Silly Walks” from the Monty Python comedy troupe’s television show.

In case you haven’t seen it, the sketch centres around a minister with a very peculiar way of walking. The minister meets a man named Mr Pudey at his work, The Ministry of Silly Walks, where the man asks him for a government grant to develop his own silly walk. And that’s how entertaining it is. So, anyone who passes by has to do the silly walk as mentioned in the sign on the walk side.

When Liz was interviewed about the idea she said:

“My husband and I were on a quarantine walk with my kids biking ahead of us and it just sort of came to me”.

And to make it more interesting, they put up a sign that read, “You have now entered the jurisdiction of silly walks. Commence silly walking immediately.”

Finer print reads: “Follow @Yorkshire_Silly_Walks for highlights. Your walk may be posted! We’re all in this together so let’s have some fun while we can! (Don’t know how to silly walk? Google Monty Python Ministry of Silly Walks for inspiration.)”

“My neighbours seem to love it. Some of them walk by more than once a day and make sure to silly walk,” she said. Afterwards, she created an Instagram account to share all the silly walk videos and thus, it went viral overnight.

She also said, “My husband and I are essential workers so we are fortunate,” she said. “I have more time on my hands to do stuff because we aren’t dealing with two full-time employees at work all day, school, homework, extracurricular and the general craziness of life.”
