There have been more than enough incidents from all over the world that highlight the beautiful relationship between dogs and people. This heartwarming incident we are about to tell you is yet another such story from China about a dog who waited at the hospital for 3 whole months after its owner’s death caused by the coronavirus.
Xiao Bao is a modern day Hachiko (y’all remember Hachiko from Japan who waited at the Shibuya train station for 9 consecutive years after his human’s death?). Xiao Bao is a 7 years old dog who, just like Hachiko, stood by his human both during the good times as well as when he was sick.
He came to the Wuhan Taikang Hospital in February with his human. His human had to be treated for coronavirus at the hospital. He probably didn’t know where he was going or why he was going. Being an elderly person, the treatments did not work well for. Sadly, he passed away five days later.
During all the time from the date of admission until his owner’s death, this loyal pooch stayed at the hospital, showing its love and loyalty towards his human. He had no way to know about his human’s death. He was waiting tirelessly and patiently until his human returned to go home with him.
During all this time he was at the hospital, the hospital staff was kind enough to give him food so that this too-good-to-be-true pooch wouldn’t go hungry. Then, when life returned to the normal and the hospital supermarket reopened, its kind owner made sure that the dog was fed.
However, they could not let him be around any longer as patients started coming regularly. Even when they tried to drop him far away from the hospital, he still returned and waited for his owner. Therefore, he was taken by the Wuhan Small Animal protection Association to be treated and re-homed.
